Agave is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). It was initially started by the 1Hive community with the goal of bringing a rich lending protocol to the Gnosis Chain (formerly xDAI) where it is currently hosted.
Agave DAO has a Lending Protocol forked from the respected and battle-tested Lending Protocol AAVE with some adjustments made for the Gnosis Chain. A brand-new web application has been developed and new features and research are being worked on to improve the base protocol in user applications and protocol security. We invite you to join the community and take part in this exciting movement of innovation towards the a higher inclusivity and decentralization of finance. 😊
Agave intends to collaborate and work alongside 1Hive DAO 🐝, which is the biggest token holder, to bring the best experience to our communities.
Users can participate as depositors or borrowers. Depositors provide liquidity in their preferred Tokens by depositing to earn a passive income, while borrowers are able to borrow them in an over-collateralized fashion or without any collateral via Flash-Loans (1-block loans).
Lenders are quite diverse and are mostly holders or traders, and organizations looking for a secure source of yield on their assets. So as projects using the Agave interest bearing tokens as a way to monetize their applications. Every borrower of the protocol also has to be a lender since the assets deposited as collateral can be used by the protocol to borrow to other users.
Most of the borrowers in are traders looking to hedge or leverage a position, or simply tap into Liquidity to take advantage of an Arbitrage opportunity. More information about possible strategies for a user to take using Agave can be checked in the Strategies page.
Agave aims to democratize the user's access to yield and credit. By existing on the Gnosis Chain you can enjoy the next-to-zero transaction fees, which allow everyone to get acquainted with the potential benefit DeFi can bring. Furthermore, by being a DAO, every holder can become a fundamental part of the ecosystem, shaping the narrative of the whole community.
